Account Restrictions & Appeals

At Social Vibes, we’re building more than an app; we’re building a movement for authentic connection, adventure, and kindness. To keep our space welcoming and meaningful for everyone, we enforce our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service  with care and consistency.

This page explains why accounts may be blocked, banned, or limited – and what to do if you believe the action was a mistake.

Why Was I Banned?

Here are the most common reasons users are banned from Social Vibes:

1. Posting sexually explicit or pornographic content
Includes nudity, sexually suggestive material, or adult content of any kind.

2. Engaging in hate speech or discriminatory language
Any content that targets others based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or other protected characteristics.

3. Harassment, bullying, or threatening others
Including repeated personal attacks, intimidation, or unwanted messaging.

4. Promoting violence or self-harm
Encouraging or glorifying physical harm, dangerous behaviors, or suicide.

5. Excessive spamming or promotional activity
Unwanted repetition of posts, unsolicited links, or irrelevant self-promotion.

6. Sharing misinformation or harmful content
Especially around health, safety, or community wellbeing.

7. Impersonation or fake accounts
Pretending to be someone else, including influencers, public figures, or other users.

8. Manipulating the platform
Using bots, exploits, or “point farming” systems that break the spirit of fair play.

9. Posting irrelevant or low-effort content
Including blank photos, unrelated images, empty captions, or content that doesn’t align with our purpose (e.g., “scroll filler” posts).

10. Disrespectful or toxic behavior
Trolling, sarcasm intended to provoke, passive aggression, or antagonistic behavior in comments or challenges.

Shadow Banning & Limited Visibility

To protect the broader community, we may take non-visible moderation actions without informing the user directly. These include:

  • Shadow Banning: Your content may be hidden from the broader feed or community while still appearing normal to you.

  • Reduced Visibility: Posts may be down-ranked or reach fewer users if repeatedly reported or flagged.

  • Temporary Content Holds: Certain posts or interactions may be paused for review before being visible to others.

These tools help us minimize disruption, maintain community tone, and investigate issues safely.

How We Moderate – Fairness & Transparency

At Social Vibes, we believe in fairness, transparency, and second chances. Here’s how we ensure moderation is responsible:

  • Most violations trigger a warning or temporary suspension first.

  • Severe violations (like hate speech, threats, or sexual content) may result in immediate bans.

  • All actions are reviewed by a human moderator or moderation team.

  • You have the right to appeal any decision.

Appeal Your Ban

If you feel your account was banned by mistake, or if you’ve reflected and are ready to rejoin with good intentions, you may submit an appeal.

✅ What to Include:

  • Email Address

  • Username

  • Date of Ban (if known)

  • Reason for Appeal (explain the situation and why you believe we should lift the ban)

⏳ Appeal Review Time: We aim to respond within 7-10 business days. While we carefully consider each appeal, reinstatement is not guaranteed.

  • Full reinstatement of your account

  • Reduced ban duration or restored posting privileges

  • Denial of appeal with reasons provided

Your Rights & Data

In line with international data protection laws (like GDPR and the EU Digital Services Act), you have the right to:

  • Request a copy of your data

  • Request deletion of your account or personal information

  • Receive transparency around any content moderation decisions
